People that think being a fashion student is about making pretty clothes and coloring couldn't be MORE WRONG. Fashion is a challenge, constructing garments is *extremely* difficult, long hours and late nights. Social life? I don't think so. Your bae? A Juki sewing machine. Hard work? It totally pays off.
All jokes and painful truths aside, here are the five #MajorKeys of surviving [Marist] fashion.
1. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE
You can always do it later...or so you think...don't put off everything til' you are up to your neck in work and you can't breathe. Staying up til' 4:30 AM doesn't look very pretty the next day. Less procrastination = Less stress. Less stress = happier life.
2. Don't forget to be creative / Think outside the box
It's VERY IMPORTANT to follow the instructions and learn the techniques but don't forget insert you creativity wherever you can.
3. There are no mistakes, only design details.
Ok, it's entirely possible [and inevitable] that you will mess up, but don't sweat it. As Hannah Montana said "Nobody's perfect" and we got to work it to get our fashion lines.
4. Be on time
Seriously, fashion waits for no one, and it sure as hell doesn't wait on you. Ain't nobody got time to be late.
5. Be confident!
Believe in yourself. If you don't, no one else will. You are capable of more than you know.
